Dr. Jill Howard
Doctor of Audiology
Dr. Howard grew up in the foothills of Northern Iredell County. She lives in Statesville now with her husband, J.D., and two sons, Drew and Thomas. In 2000, Jill graduated with her Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.), from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.
She has been practicing audiology for over thirty years. She also earned a Master's degree in Audiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language, and Auditory Pathology from East Carolina University. Her expertise is in the diagnosis of hearing loss and the dispensing of hearing aids.
She is highly trained in the fitting and programming of advanced as well as traditional hearing aid technologies. Early in her career, she worked at an ear, nose, and throat doctor's office before deciding to venture out on her own.
In 1986, Jill opened Hearing Services to serve the growing hearing healthcare needs of an expanding community. Her goal and commitment in practicing Audiology has always been to help others. Dr. Howard said, "Knowing that you are truly helping others improve the quality of their life, by improving their ability to communicate, gives me a great deal of pride and pleasure in what I do. Having grown up in and around Statesville helps tremendously, because people are your neighbors and familiar with who you are and how you may have helped them or their loved ones."
Jill keeps up with all the changes in hearing health and hearing aid technology through her memberships in the American Academy of Audiology, the North Carolina Speech, Language, Hearing Association, the North Carolina Academy of Audiology, and the National Hearing Conservation Association.
William A. "Drew" Dotson
Audiology Assistant, CAOHC Certified, License in Hearing Instrumentation
William A. "Drew" Dotson was born and raised in Statesville, NC, and is the oldest of Dr. Howard's two sons. Currently he lives in Hickory with his wife, Brooke, and their two dogs Lola and Toby. Drew graduated from Western Carolina University in 2011. Drew has been around Hearing Services his whole life, but officially became a full-time member of the staff in 2013. After apprenticing under Deanna Howard and passing the state licensing exam, Drew became a Hearing Instrument Specialist in the Summer of 2015.
Drew specializes in fitting and dispensing the most technologically advanced hearing aids as well as their accessories. He performs industrial hearing tests, and also has extensive experience in making custom hearing protection and custom fit earbuds. "Being a part of Hearing Services has allowed me to invest my time in improving the quality of life for so many people. Having grown up in Statesville, I am eager continue our family's commitment to providing the very best hearing healthcare for everyone who needs it."
Drew stays up to date on all of the latest advancements in hearing healthcare and hearing technology through his memberships in the International Hearing Society, as well as the Audiological Resource Association.
